Breathwork for easing holiday stress
The Monthly Drop-In: How to resource yourself in times of discomfort or overwhelm
Hello!
I’m excited to welcome you to the Drop-In, our monthly breathwork practice in under 10 minutes. These quick sessions are meant to drop you back into your body, lift your spirits, and help you face whatever's next.
I’m also really looking forward to connecting with you and offering support over this next month in our group discussion.
To help us ground during this full (and at times complex) season, we are kicking off our monthly practice with Resourcing. In a nutshell, Resourcing is an invitation to identify and strengthen our internal and external resources which can help us navigate stress and overwhelm.
If you have been considering joining this monthly support container, it’s not too late, you can upgrade your subscription today.
A few important notes before we get started—
The Drop-In will land in your inbox one Wednesday each month
To get the most from the Drop-In I suggest setting aside 10 minutes to practice the session a few times a week (with grace and spaciousness of course!)

Breathwork Practice: Resourcing
This time of year can feel pressurizing for many of us.
Whether it is because we are navigating deep waves of grief for what we are missing, our kids being home more from school, feeling like we didn’t make as much “progress” as we hoped this year, or complicated family dynamics, this season often brings so much to the surface.
Given all of this, I’ve got a sense many of our nervous systems are in overdrive, mine included. This might look like checking out more through numbing or staying busy, feeling short fused, anxious, fearful, disconnected, apathetic, or experiencing discomfort in our bodies.
To help us stay present and grounded during this time (with grace of course) the practice I’m offering this month is Resourcing. In my personal practice and work with clients, I consider Resourcing a foundational practice. It is one of the first practices I learned years ago in my somatic trauma training and it continues to be a practice I orient myself to in times of heightened stress, overwhelm, disassociation, or anxiety.
At its core, Resourcing is an invitation to identify and strengthen our internal and external resources which can help us navigate stress and overwhelm.
The practice of Resourcing is to intentionally direct our attention towards our breath, sensations in the body, or images that help to awaken feelings of safety and calm in our nervous systems. This helps our bodies and minds access a grounded state, especially when we are going through challenging times. The calm and safety we access through Resourcing will help us connect to our breath, bodies, relationships, and the natural world with more compassion and ease.
You may practice this Resourcing session as often as you like to strengthen your sense of safety and regulation. You may also use this session when you feel overwhelmed, checked out, or stressed, and want a sense of grounding and greater sense of connection.
How to Practice Resourcing
Sitting down, standing, or lying down.
Practice with the guided session several times this month, more if you are feeling up to it.
After the session, you may spend a few minutes journaling, take a walk outside, or anything else that would feel comforting for you.
