Hi, I'm Ashley Neese, and I'm delighted you're here.

I’m a breathwork teacher, foster parent, and land-tender in California’s Central Valley. I write about learning what it means to live my practice — not just teach it.

The Deeper Call is a home for slow, embodied living in a culture that prizes speed and performance. Here we practice presence as medicine for these overwhelming times.

I created this space as a refuge for depth and connection, a place to remember that our real work isn’t self-optimization, it’s self-return. Through intimate essays, voice notes, and simple breathing practices, we explore how to slow down, listen inward, and trust what the body already knows.

This isn’t about optimization or doing more. It’s about being here. About remembering our humanity. About discovering the sacred hidden in the ordinary—morning light on the kitchen counter, your child’s laughter in a difficult moment, the exhale that finally lets you soften.

Beyond all the self-help noise and productivity culture, we're a community remembering how to live at a human pace. Learning to notice what nourishes us. Returning to our bodies and to each other, one breath at a time.

I look forward to connecting with you inside,
Ashley

About Me

I’m Ashley Neese, author of Permission to Rest and How To Breathe, mother of three, breathwork teacher, writer, and land tender. My family and I live in a valley of wise old oak trees in California with our rescue dogs, five donkeys, eight mini horses, seven cats, and two bee colonies.

My work has been featured at In goop Health, mindbodygreen Revitalize, and in Elle Japan, Sunset Magazine, WSJ, goop, Vogue, Well+Good, and W Magazine.

With two published books and fifteen years of teaching behind me, I created this space to connect outside traditional publishing and the retreat circuit. The Deeper Call is where I can write and share in real time, in rhythms that nourish and restore.

Subscribing is one way to sustain this work and keep it alive.
